Roadtripping Seattle to Denver.

Eat up the fluorescent ochre of the Wyoming landscape.  These two pictures are just outside of Casper. From one traffic clogged city to another there were clear roads from here to there.  It’s remarkable how sparse Montana and Wyoming are.  (Missoula MN, a pretty hip town sports a population of 65,000; Billings ups them at 110,000.  Casper WY checks in at 60,000.)  In between there’s virtually nothing going on for miles.  Forgive me, groundhogs checking your shadow, your theater dominates these parts! Beautiful black cows sleeping in the sun, you rule!

I would love to create a dish using this palette. Saffron and blueberries?  I’m going to sleep on it.

Me Moms and I stayed in each of these towns guiltily enlisting the help of Yelp to root out good meals. Based on customers’ experience the reviews are to be taken in context as “the best gyro in the world” in Missoula was truly mediocre.  Big Dipper in Missoula was truly a revelation. The concept is in the Snack Dragon genre—running late at night with indie music perking things up while western hipsters serve up bountiful scoops of homemade ice cream—The Mint Oreo atop Salted Maple Walnut was the possibly the best thing i ate on the whole roundtrip trip.
